NUCLEAR MEDICINE MYOCARDIAL PERFUSION TEST
 
  1. Patient is to have light breakfast three (3) hours prior to examination. Please abstain from caffiene ie. coffee, tea, chocolate, colas and smoking on the day of the test.
  2. Please bring along a list of all medication, and the medication itself if possible, on the appointment day.
  3. Please dress in comfortable clothing and shoes(sneakers) suitable for walking and jogging.
  4. Patient will undergo one of the following protocols :
     
    Resting injection ->Wait->Resting Scan -> 4-Hour-Wait ->
    Treadmill-> Stress Injection ->Wait -> Stress Scan
    Treadmill-> Stress Injection ->Wait -> Stress Scan
    -> 4-Hour Wait -> Resting Injection -> Wait -> Resting Scan
    The entire process will last 8 hours. The morning session will take approximately 2 hours. This will be followed by a 4-hour wait. The afternoon session will take approximately another 2 hours.
  5. For patients who cannot perform adequate exercise or in whom there is contraindication for exercise stress test ( as determined by referring to cardiologist/physician ), there will be no physical exercise. Instead a drug will be used to simulate stress test (pharmacological stress).
  6. The patient should inform the doctor if any of the following symptoms are encountered during the procedure :
     
    Chest pain
    Chest tightness
    Light Headedness
    Giddiness
    Fatigue
    Severe leg pain
  7. The patient should also inform the doctor if he/she had a chest pain during the past 24 hours.

Please arrive punctually at the appointed time so that we can obtain the maximum benefit from the radiopharmaceutical prepared. If you are unable to come for the examination at the appointed time, please inform us in advance.
